As a Technical Artist who mostly focuses in Maya, I often find myself struggling with the way Blender behaves in many aspects, object pivoting being one of them. Therefore I decided to create a small tool to facilitate changing an objects origin position and rotation.This simple yet efficient addon is able to:
- Set the origin position to a selected vertex, edge or face or group of (gizmo based).
- Find the objects lowest upwards coordinate and set the origin position while preserving it's previous horizontal and deep values.
- Find the objects center and set the origin to it.
- Create a custom (similar to pressing the D Key in Maya) position and orientation.
While there are a few more features that I would like to work on (such as finding corners or give the option to inherit a selections normal direction as orientation) I believe the current set is good enough for a v1.
As I mentioned in social media before, I do not know how useful this might be for native Blender users which are used to the Blender way of doing things. For me this is a feature I expected and could not find anywhere.
